Large quantities of sand are being blown off the quarry and excessive noise from the plant and machinery is causing concerns to the local residents.

Action: Don Keith to make contact next week).

7. Major Developments

7.1 Drumoak

A dead tree, West of the Park Smiddy on the North side of the A93 requires removal by Aberdeenshire Council, as it is becoming a safety issue.

Action: David Morrish to Contact Roads

Deeside Nurseries: David Morrish sent a letter on CDDCC’S behalf, stating the case for upholding the original planning conditions to Aberdeenshire Planning. An acknowledgement from the Head of Planning and Building Control has been received that they have recorded our comments.

Don Keith made the following comments prior to the meeting: “Drumoak Houses are rapidly nearing completion and occupancy. One of the consent conditions was an extension to the sewage plant. Casual inspection demonstrates that nothing has been done. Rumour has it that SM has an agreement to commission a certain number of houses prior to the sewage part extension. Surely it is time for the situation to be publicly aired”.

Action: To be discussed at the next CDDCC meeting.

7.2

Jean Downie had sent a  letter sent to Aberdeenshire Planners regarding the proposal for three houses at Durris Cottage. At a subsequent meeting the planning was refused due to major sewage problems.

Cassies Croft’ – large development (opposite Drum Cottage). Jean Downier to check if the neighbours require CDDCC support.

Action: Jean Downie

The development plans for ‘The Paddock Stables Durris’, which consists of a large ‘Barn’ containing 18 stables and 2 wash bays are to be circulated and reviewed.

Action: Molly Atkinson to draft a letter to Planning & Building Control.

The meeting between the Marr Area Planners and David Morrish to discuss the Draft Planning Brief is to take place next week at the Council Offices. Rydens, Dunecht Estates and a small number of  CDDCC are expected to attend.

Action: David Morrish

8. Planning Applications

These have been included in item 7.

David Morrish reminded the meeting that we should all check the Weekly Lists as we missed the ‘Strathdoune’ planning proposals at Crathes.

9. Review Other Outstanding Actions

9.1 The fly-tipping of bags with congealed fat has suddenly stopped. Thanks to Jean Downie’s efforts. We think.

9.2 The Deeside Way

The accepted title for the previous the Auld Deeside Way is now officially theDeeside Way’.

9.3 The Drumoak to Banchory cycling event, organised by the members and friends of the CDDCC, on the 24 June went well. Comments can be found on the web-site.

Two items requiring attention:

  • West of Crathes, the new replacement path requires additional finer aggregate, as the current surface is unacceptable.
  • There is a lack of adequate sign-posting at strategic points along the ‘Deeside Way’, especially at Crathes and westwards towards Banchory.

9.4 There has been no progress as regards creating a gap by the gate near Park Smiddy.

Action: Molly Atkinson

9.5 Public Disorder at the Glebe

Don Keith made the following comments prior to the meeting: Hot weather brings out the public in droves and since someone moved the big boulder blocking the Deeside Way,

cars are now driving and parking along the Deeside Way which rather defeats the object of the Way. There have also been incidences of camping – admittedly well behaved – but as there are no toilets it will not be long before the place gets fouled up by calls of nature.

We should request the Recreation Dept. block the road off – or better still put a no through road sign and a council notice prohibiting camping.

Action: Next Council Meeting

9.6 House Break-ins around Drumoak & Durris

A response from Lorna Heppolette is expected on her return from holiday.

12.1 Dalmaik Farm

The 7 strand barbed wire fence is still causing some concern. Jill has spoken to the owner and the issue is still to be resolved. It was agreed that Molly and David would walk ‘the route’ at 10.00 hrs on 03 August and check if a problem still exists.
