4. Schools

Drumoak School

Hanni attended the meeting with the Aberdeenshire Council on the 7th March. There was a general consensus that the school amenities were not suitable for present and future use. There was no positive outcome of the meeting however the school was included in the council school up-grading plans when funding becomes available (likely to be PPP funding). Hanni will keep the council informed on any developments with the school.

Crathes School

No indication of school closure if Drumoak were to be expanded i.e. Crathes absorbed into Drumoak. At the above meeting the education representatives were not aware of the proposed housing development at Crathes and hence it’s possible demand on the school amenities.

5. DYPO3

All weather football pitch

Formal planning permission for the all weather football pitch not yet received but no objections from the consultees. Indication from the David Wright of recreation is that we can proceed with due diligence. The builder (Bert Macintosh will start soon after the school holidays.

Don Keith will keep us up to date on progress

6. Park Quarry Liaison Committee

Up-date to be deferred until next meeting

7. Major developments

Note In March’s Mom 7a         School Lane Drive should read School Lane.

Drumoak New Housing Development

Concern was expressed that the plans do not reflect the actual extent of the earth banking that is being carried out on the new development. On examination of the banking there is no cause for concern with regard to its steepness and stability but the plans should be up-dated to give the banking contour and the position of the fencing.

Proposed Crathes Development

A public meeting was held with 50 local residents, two planers from the ACC and representatives from the Dunecht estate in attendance. A successful meeting in as far as there is now an awareness of the presence and status of the development and local issues have been identified. Attached are the issues raised at the meeting.

David Morrish will summarise and circulate to the attendees and all concerned.

8. Planning Application

The building of the house at Hardgate is on an old right of way.

Molly Atkinson to check if the route is still being used by walkers.

9. Review Actions

Members of the CDDC attended a presentation on the Crathes castle Skytrek development and were impressed by the venture and hopefully this will encourage more visitors to this lovely property.

The bicycle outing from Duthie Park to Crathes is postponed until Saturday 14th May. More details at next meeting

10.&11. Correspondence and CC priorities for 2005.

To be reviewed next meeting

12. AOB

Naming of the “Deeside Way

Jenny Watson expressed concern that the name given to the walk from Duthie Park to Ballater did not reflect the heritage of the route and should be called “The Auld Deeside Railway”. The general opinion of the attendees was neutral as they did not have a strong preference/objection to either name.

Deeside Way exit onto the slug Road

It was not clear how the Deeside Way was to exit onto the Slug Road as several options are possible. Molly Atkinson is to contact Peter Dawes to find out if a preferred route has been recommended.
