Crathes, Drumoak & Durris Community Council (CDDCC)

Discussion Notes of Inquorate Meeting

3 August 2004 at Irvine Arms, Drumoak from 19.30 hours

Sederunt

Community Councillors - John Hopkins (Acting Chairman), David Hirst, Jean Downie, Jill Gow

Ward Councillors – none

Members of the Public – none

Apologies – Cllr Jenny Watson, Don Keith, Ron Stark, Julia Mackay

As the meeting was inquorate (the quorum being 5), a number of items were discussed, but without definitive decisions being taken on behalf of CDDCC.

1.       Drumoak Youth Project (Youth Shelter)

The consensus of the meeting was to proceed as proposed by Don Keith, in his email of 2/8/04.

2.       Drumoak Houses

The consensus of the meeting was to sustain the pressure on the curious disparity between what the Reported sanctioned and what the Planning Service proposes on behalf of the Applicant.

3.   Third Party Rights of Appeal (Planning Applications)

Several individual letters had been sent to the Scottish Executive, all supporting the principle of Third Party Right of Appeal.  Those attending the meeting were of a like mind.

4.   Local Plan Inquiry

This will take evidence during the period end August to February 2005.  CDDCC Areas would be involved, at the following approximate times:-

·         Crathes                               mid-November

·         Drumoak                             weeks 2 and 3 of January

·         Kirkton of Durris                   mid-January

·         Woodlands of Durris       week 3 of January

5.   Kincardine & Mearns Community Council Forum

The consensus of the meeting was that CDDCC should attend the next Forum meeting (30 September).  Attendance would be decided at the September CDDCC Meeting.  To circulate invitation/minutes/PAN 47 (Action John Hopkins) (DONE)

6.   Marr Area Top-Up Grants

The poster recently received from Marr Area would be put up in the Drumoak Post Office (Action Jean Downie).  The papers were handed to David Hirst for possible action.

7.       Swimming

David Hirst noted that it was now proposed that (in addition to providing swimming teachers and lifeguards), local primary school swimming clubs were now to be charged £1.50 per child-week for the use of the Banchory Pool.  It was understood that Sandra Horrocks had written to Aberdeenshire Council objecting to this.  It was agreed that a letter should be drafted on behalf of CDDCC (copied to local councillors and to Press&Journal/Deeside Piper), adding CDDCC’s voice to this objection.  (Action David Hirst)

8.       Extraction of Minerals at SunnyBrae, Drumoak

Ron Stark had received a detailed, but disingenuous, response from Marr Planning Services in respect of his earlier letter.  The meeting supported his further letter, which again attempts to obtain straight answers.
